Dr. Pyke got a PhD and an MD to pursue medical research and had a forty-year career as a drug developer for mental and sexual problems. But in his part-time medical practice, he found drugs no better than band-aids, so he read alternative scientific literature, followed gurus, attended workshops, sweated in tents, swam with dolphins, walked hot coals, underwent chiropractic, acupuncture, and massage therapy. After authoring over 200 scientific publications, he wrote his first book for patients, Dr. Pyke’s Natural Way to Complete Stomach Relief (2001), then a self-published book on the pitfalls of nutritional supplements, Supplements Don’t Work. Why? (2020). He now offers a pithy summary of his journey through alternative medicine: Making Supplements Work.
